That's A Wrap!

Congratulations! You have just been hired as a director at a major movie studio! You get to live out your wildest dreams by working with top actors, buying amazing scripts, making huge amounts of money and attending the prestigious Oskie awards. Sounds great right?

Oh, but we may have neglected to mention, there are a few other directors who were hired at the same time as you, and only one of you will get to keep your job at the end of the initial contract. We are only interested in keeping top talent, so the director who has the most Oskies will get to stay. Also you may have to deal with a bit of studio meddling here and there, but we are sure you’ll do fine. Good luck!

Introduction

That’s a Wrap is a card game for 3-5 directors, with playtime between 45-75 minutes (15 minutes per player). The goal of the game is to win the most Oskie awards, which you can get by making artistic films to try and win Best Script, Best Performance, and Best Director, or huge blockbuster smashes to accumulate money and influence and try to win the Audience Choice Award. With over 50,000 potential movie combinations between genres, scripts, and actors, the possibilities are wide open. Find out what kind of director you are!

How do you play?

Making a movie is easy. The first thing that you do is choose the genre. You could go for an Oskie-chasing romance movie or a money grab horror film. After everyone has chosen their genre, everyone gets a chance to hire actors and buy scripts. You’ve got to bid for what you want, so be ready to spend some of that hard-earned money!

Don’t get too attached to your movie though, because the next stage is studio meddling. After everything is finally set, you will release your movies to the theaters to make money and gain influence. Finally each year has an Oskie ceremony, where you have the chance to win awards for your actors, scripts, and yourself as the director. At the end of four rounds, the director with the most Oskies is the winner!
